Group of employees in the 1950s

5 like 1950s The Blumenbecker Group will be 100 years old.

Retrospect

Theodor Blumenbecker from Bochum, the grandfather of today's majority shareholder Astrid Blumenbecker, founded an anchor winding factory in Beckum in 1922. He also found happiness in his private life in Westphalia. He married in the mid-20s. Their daughter Marianne was born in 1926 and their son Bernhard was born four years later.

Theodor Blumenbecker had a large stock of copper supplies at the end of the 1930s. During the Second World War he helped the farmers in the area and repaired their equipment. After the end of the war in 1945, his warehouse was empty and his 15 employees are dispersed in all directions. Difficult times were dawning.

Marianne Blumenbecker graduated from high school in 1946 and studied business administration in Münster. Parallel to her studies, she worked intensively in her parents' company and reorganised administration and accounting.

With the currency reform in 1948, Blumenbecker's business also begun to take off. Bernhard Blumenbecker graduated from high school in 1949 and starts an apprenticeship as an electrician.

The 1950s dawned - a formative time for Blumenbecker

The 1950s are marked by reconstruction - the German economic miracle! And at Blumenbecker it was time to break new ground and expand.

Marianne, who graduated in business administration in Cologne in 1952, founded her own company in 1954: an electrical wholesale business in Ahlen. But the early years are difficult. Many people didn't want to buy from a woman. But she persevered and - against all odds - builded up a clientele in industry, trade, commerce and administration.

Focus on the customer and the future

In the meantime Bernhard Blumenbecker completed his apprenticeship as an electrician. His time as a journeyman took him to Cologne, where he met and fell in love with his future wife Gisela. In 1958 he married her and went to Oldenburg to attend the master craftsman school. In 1958 and 1959 he passed the master craftsman examinations as an electrician and electrical machine builder and returned to Beckum to started work in his father's company. He focused on customer service and sales.

Theodor Blumenbecker meanwhile took his children into the company as silent partners. In this way, he set the course for the future of the company at an early stage.
