Franz Brannekemper GmbH
Franz Brannekemper GmbH, which is based in Lippstadt in southern Westphalia, is a medium-sized metalworking firm with a company history that goes back some 60 years. The firm produces metalwork, forgings and stainless steel components and also manufactures industrial doors and door systems. The Lippstadt workforce of just over 30 produces balustrades, window grills, doors, gates, fences, stairs, roofs and steel and stainless steel items for the home and garden.
The commission
The company only had a nibbler capable of working metals up to a maximum thickness of two millimetres. The firm‘s workload required a new machine that could cut materials more than 100 millimetres thick.
Project scope
Technology plays a major role when it comes to high-quality, efficient metal working. The Eckert WaterJET Combo combines water jet and plasma cutting and is suitable for working a variety of metals and materials, including steel, glass, stone, ceramics, and rubber. Its great advantage is that the two cutting methods can be used either in tandem or individually.
Water jet cutting is mainly used when extreme precision and thin or fine materials are involved and this technique is very precise, but slow. Combining it with the plasma cutting unit makes it possible to cut very fine structures with water and others with plasma, which means working at a much higher speed. The programming system predetermines which cutting method will be used.
Blumenbecker‘s Lippstadt branch was able to collaborate with their colleagues at Industriebedarf‘s Munster office, which is also the group‘s main machine-tool centre. After a careful examination of the customer‘s requirements the two Blumenbecker offices worked closely with the manufacturer to draw up precise specifications for the machine, which was subsequently built to the exact scale required.
